oookay? why did they include a seriously cut-down version of the final 1/4 of episode 536 even before the opening credits/preview of 537? was it because last week 'back in the past' in-between 536&7 they rebroadcast a remastered 'old school Conan' episode about the formation of the Detective Boys Club?

yeah, this is a weird one... i wonder if Kid and his Dad are having a spat... like a 'you're too big for your britches boy!' and 'bring it on old man! i'll beat you to it, whatever the challenge!' so they've set up a competition between the old Kid and the successor. the first note was from Dad and the second note was from his Son.

Just be glad it wasn’t a remaster episode

yeah some of those even cut down more than one episode and mashed them together into one or more episode(s). the remastering of 'Moonlight Sonata Case' is infamous for that problem. the opening of ep1 for the remaster of that case even removed all the dialogue audio on the ship between Kogoro, Ran, and Conan as the trio arrives on that island. the whole scene in Poirot where Kogoro explains the name on the request to investigate a death etc. was cut completely out. it had Conan doing a voice-over to give the episode a faster intro/opening scene. Conan does all the intro to 'pass on the info' from the edited-out scenes, but the video playing while Conan is talking is of the trio on the ship.

if you're doing a rewatch this won't be spoiler, but JIC i'll just say 'spoiler' and stick the tag on it anyways.

in the Conan anime the Kuroba family is almost never shown or mentioned at all. other than the specific special Kaito Kid centered episodes that are NOT on Gogo's Conan TV websites for some reason. i haven't watched those yet on their separate Gogo pages. i also haven't watched the Kid TV series 1412 either. so i wasn't aware his dad at this point in the Conanverse timeline is dead. i'm not a source reader for anime.

in the Conan TV series Kaito's dad is shown explicitly in only ONE episode. it's either 472 or 473 the flashback scene where Yukiko Kudo is speaking with Mr. Kuroba about Yuusaku and Yukiko's assignment for that day as Mr. Kuroba's apprentice. Kaito (as a little boy, probably the same age Shinichi is) walks in during the conversation and Mr. Kuroba introduces him to Yukiko. it is implied in another part of that same pair of episodes that Mr. Kuroba is the 'hint/riddle supplier' and 'threating man' ShinRan meet in their middle school's library. but the 'threatening man' face isn't shown exactly.

later on in the Conan TV series, in one of the Conan vs. Kid episodes... 627 or 628 Kaito implies that The Phantom Lady is his mother, is still alive, and she FORCED him to perform that theft operation about 'Ryoma's Treasures'. but Kaito doesn't confirm it and she only shows up on-screen in expositional flashback/idealized scenes. Kaito also states his mother is a 'seriously forceful woman and nobody ever says no to her, ever!'

if anything else comes up in the Conan TV series about the Kuroba family AFTER ep853 i don't know about that either. that is the episode i'm watching right now. even though i started watching anime in 1990, this is the first time i've ever watched Conan. other than four or five episodes of the Funimation Edub when it was on Cartoon Network. i wasn't impressed with the show back then so i just set it aside for 'someday'. i got started with the Conan TV series and movies back in March 2022 and i usually watch three or more episodes a day, every day, since then.
